Early departure to Ampefy
Early Departure and Trip Presentation
Early in the morning, your guide will meet you at your hotel to present the highlights of your getaway to Ampefy, a popular destination known for its tranquility and natural wonders. Once everything is set, you'll set off on National Route 1, heading west towards the Itasy region.
Analavory Geysers: A Mystical Encounter with Nature
Your first stop will be the Analavory Geysers, a unique natural phenomenon in Madagascar. Unlike volcanic geysers, these spring from artesian wells and do not release hot water. Once considered a sacred place, these geysers were believed to have the power to heal illnesses and help infertile couples. You may even come across "mpimasy," traditional Malagasy healers.
Exploring the Village of Ampefy
Next, you'll arrive at the picturesque village of Ampefy, situated by Lake Itasy. Take a stroll through the local market, where you can taste the region’s famous creamy avocados and enjoy a lunch of freshly caught fish from the lake. This moment will allow you to immerse yourself in the authentic village life of Madagascar.
Lily Waterfall: A Must-See Natural Gem
The adventure continues with a visit to the famous Lily Waterfall, standing 26 meters tall. Fed by the waters of Lake Itasy, this waterfall is surrounded by legends, including the story of Lily, a young girl who tragically drowned here. The site offers stunning landscapes, ideal for capturing beautiful photos.
Overnight at Farihy Hotel Ampefy or similar with breakfast included.
Back to Antananarivo
Canoe Ride on Lake Itasy
After visiting the waterfall, embark on a serene canoe ride on Lake Itasy, departing from the Îlot de la Vierge. This popular activity offers the chance to observe wild ducks, meet local fishermen, and, when allowed, try your hand at fishing. The canoe ride between Ambohiniazy and Manazary provides the perfect opportunity to admire and photograph the breathtaking scenery.
Visit to the Îlot de la Vierge: The Grand Finale of Your Ampefy Stay
Before leaving Ampefy, your final stop will be the Îlot de la Vierge, a sacred site perched atop a charming hill. Easily recognizable by the majestic statue of the Virgin Mary standing on a high platform, the îlot is said to be the geographic center of Madagascar. From the top of the hill, enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the surrounding area, providing a perfect conclusion to your stay in Ampefy.
Discover Lémurs' Park and Lunch
After finishing the visit to Îlot de la Vierge, we'll head to Lémurs' Park for lunch. The afternoon will be spent exploring the reserve, where you'll encounter Madagascar’s iconic lemurs in their natural habitat.
Return to Antananarivo
Following this day filled with discovery and awe, we'll return to Antananarivo, with lasting memories of Ampefy’s beauty and charm.
