The experience is tactile: the cool air of the rainforest in Ranomafana, the warmth of Isalo’s sun-baked sandstone, the fine white sand of Madiorano beach. You will hear the calls of resident lemurs, watch artisans at their craft in Ambatolampy and Ambositra, and see ring-tailed lemurs sunning themselves on the rocks of Anja Reserve.

Day-by-day itinerary
Your guide will meet you for the private transfer to your hotel in the city centre. Following a briefing on the journey ahead, the remainder of the day is at your leisure.
The journey south begins, tracing the Route Nationale 7 through the highlands' terraced landscapes and brick villages. Stop in Ambatolampy to observe artisans casting aluminium in their workshops.
Drive through the Betsileo heartland, with stops in Ambositra, the centre of Malagasy woodcraft. After settling in at Ranomafana, an evening walk reveals the forest's nocturnal life, from mouse lemurs to tree frogs.
An early morning trek into the dense rainforest offers the best opportunity to find lemurs active in the canopy. The expedition can be tailored to your interests, perhaps focusing on the park's diverse orchids, birds or herpetofauna.
The route continues to Ambalavao, a town known for its zebu market and Antemoro paper workshops. An afternoon visit to the Anja Community Reserve offers close encounters with habituated ring-tailed lemurs amongst granite boulders.
A full day is dedicated to exploring the sandstone massif of Isalo National Park. Your guide will lead a hike through deep canyons and oases to reach a clear, natural swimming pool.
The landscape becomes progressively more arid as you drive towards the coast, passing through the sapphire town of Ilakaka. The journey continues beyond Tuléar to the coastal enclave of Madiorano.
A day at leisure on the shores of the Mozambique Channel. Options include meeting the local Vezo fishing community, navigating the lagoon in a traditional pirogue, or snorkelling in the clear water.
On the return drive to Tuléar, a detour leads to the Reniala Reserve. Here, a botanical trail winds through a forest of endemic spiny plants and several species of baobab.
A private transfer will take you to the airport in Tuléar for your domestic flight to the capital. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your hotel for the evening.
