MORONDAVA and THE TSINGY
ABOUT MORONDAVA AND TSINGY
Morondava and its landscapes:
“Located on Madagascar’s west coast, on the edge of the Mozambique Channel, Morondava is the economic and administrative capital of the Menabe (Red city) region. Morondava means ‘long river’ in Malagasy. The city offers visitors a breathtaking landscape: famous seaside resorts with endless white sandy beaches, cloudless soft blue skies, an average year-round temperature of 25°C and extraordinary sunsets at dusk.
Morondava is also known as the cradle of the Sakalava culture, and you can discover this culture through themed tours. Don’t miss the world-renowned Baobab avenue, one of Madagascar’s most photographed sites for sunsets and sunrises.Morondava is also the starting point for a number of nearby tourist attractions.”
The Kirindy and Tsingy Reserve
Just a few kilometers from Morondava, there are two outstanding tourist sites not to be missed on your visit:

Tsiribihina River
The descent on the Tsiribihina River is one of the highlights of western Madagascar. This trip takes you down the Tsiribihina River, which takes its name from the presence of crocodiles in its waters, “where you don’t dive” in the local language. This 3-day descent can be made by motorboat, barge or pirogue, depending on your preferences.
Throughout your trip, you’ll be able to observe crocodiles on the riverbanks and a wide variety of other species that populate the surrounding area. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover a succession of varied landscapes, including magnificent natural sites and picturesque local villages.
