Iharana Bush Camp, nestled 16 kilometers from Ambilobe in Madagascar’s remote north, is reachable via a rough dirt road. This eco-camp, open outside mid-December to mid-April, requires a minimum booking of two nights. Surrounded by enigmatic vegetation and rock formations, the camp integrates well with the natural landscape. It is located near the Mahahavy River and Ankarana Reserve, offering stunning views of a clear lake and tsingy cliffs. The bungalows are designed in traditional Malagasy style with terracotta and cob, featuring palm roofs and plant partitions, with some on stilts. They operate on ecological energy and have no electrical outlets. Iharana introduces distinct camping experiences in Madagascar, with elegant mortar structures instead of typical tents. For relaxation, there are sun loungers and a small pool embedded in stone.
