Mont Passot, the highest point on the island of Nosy Be, offers a spectacular panoramic view. This natural viewpoint allows landscape enthusiasts to enjoy an unobstructed view of the Mozambique Channel and, most notably, several of the 12 sacred lakes of this beautiful island.
The lakes of Nosy Be, like those throughout Madagascar, are considered sacred and are surrounded by many taboos, known as “fady.” These taboos play a significant role in the daily life of the Malagasy people. Thus, at Mont Passot, it is strictly forbidden to bathe in the lakes, under the penalty of severe consequences.
