Madagascar’s Finest Lodges & Private Islands
Island villas, rainforest lodges and wilderness camps, linked by private flights and guided by people who know every one of them.
Design my journeyLuxury in Madagascar is rare, and that is its appeal. A few remarkable lodges sit on private islands, at the edge of reserves or deep in the dry forest, far from any crowd. We know each of them, their best rooms and their best months, and we build your journey around them.
What luxury means here
Private islands
Villas on islands you share with a few other guests, reefs on the doorstep and boats at your disposal.
Wilderness camps
Tented camps by rivers and limestone forests, where lemurs pass the veranda and dinner is served under the stars.
Flights that save days
Charter flights and helicopter transfers where the roads are long, so your time goes to the places, not the drive.
Your own guide
One guide for your party from arrival to departure, and a Malagasy team a message away throughout.

What Travellers Say
Planning a luxury journey
Is Madagascar a luxury destination?
In places, and memorably so. A handful of lodges, mostly on private islands and in protected reserves, rank among the finest in the Indian Ocean. Between them, comfort is simpler, so we build each journey around those exceptional stays and choose the best available on every other night.
How do we travel between the lodges?
By domestic or charter flight for the long distances, and by helicopter or boat where the lodge requires it, as at Miavana. On the road, you have a private vehicle and your own guide.
When is the best time to go?
April to November, the dry season. September to November is ideal for beaches and baby lemurs; July to September brings whales off Sainte Marie.
How far ahead should we book?
Nine to twelve months for July to October: the best lodges have only a few rooms or villas. Outside the high season, a few months is usually enough.
Is it suitable for a honeymoon or a family?
Both. Island lodges suit couples, and several properties welcome children with family villas and guided activities. We match each lodge to who is travelling.
Why are the journeys priced on request?
Rates at these lodges depend on the season, the villa and availability, which changes quickly. We confirm everything first, then send you an exact quote rather than an estimate.
